About Us

Thad and Leeunah Woods began Thad Woods Auction in 1975 in Waynesville, North Carolina. They have been married since 1964. They have 3 children, all of whom have helped at one time or another in the auction business. They have 5 grandchildren.

Thad Woods, a licensed auctioneer for over 35 years. Before entering the auction business, he was a retail/wholesale representative for a large wholesale company, licensed in Securities/Life/Health Insurance with over 100 agents in his organization and was the owner of Hardware, Clothing, & Furniture Stores. He and Lee also opened a 100 booth Antique Mall 14 years go, that is located next door to the auction. They sold the Antique Mall four years ago to devote more time to the auction and their new business, Homes By The Woods.

Leeunah (Lee) Woods began doing all office/clerk work for Thad Woods Auction in 1975. She has been in banking/accounting since 1966, which has helped in the auction business. She was also Life/Health Insurance license at one time, been in auto insurance industry, retail business and co-owner of the Hardware, Clothing & Furniture Stores. Thad & Lee had the first large antique mall in Waynesville with over 100 booths. They opened their doors to the antique mall around 1992. Although they have sold that business, it is still in operation next door to the auction under new ownership, known as Balsam Antique Mall

Stacy Woods, son of Thad & Lee, basically raised in the auction business, has been a licensed auctioneer for over 10 years. Dad will admit that he is a great auctioneer! It is wonderful having him help us when needed. Stacy attended Western Carolina College, Cullowhee, NC, Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, graduating from North Greenville University. He is also a Baptist Minister. Stacy and wife, Maggie have one daughter.
Stacy, like his Dad, knows the auction business inside out.

A personal note from Thad & Lee;
We truly love the auction business. Itis a unique business. We have met so many wonderful people from WNC and all over the United States that attended the auction. We also have made so many wonderful friends thru the auction, whose friendship we will always treasure. Some of our friends that attended for years have now passed on but are thought of fondly and missed. We look forward to having you with us at the auction. If you come on a regular basis, you will find out that everyone attending begins to feel just family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support and friendship that you have given to us and our family over the years and we hope that the auction will continue, through Stacy, for the next 33 years.
